About TimeGate

Since its founding in 1998, TimeGate has excelled in redefining genre norms to deliver the best possible gaming experiences, as evidenced by the critical and commercial success of its real-time strategy series Kohan. Released in 2001, Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns received critical acclaim from numerous publications, including “RTS Game of the Year” by PC Gamer and Computer Games Magazine. Eight months later, the standalone expansion Kohan: Ahriman’s Gift was awarded “Strategy Game of the Year” from Computer Gaming World. These early successful titles led to TimeGate receiving “Rookie Developer of the Year” honors from the Independent Game Developers Association. In 2004, Kohan II: Kings of War positioned TimeGate at the top of the RTS genre by receiving many accolades, such as being ranked a “Top 10 Game of 2004” by Computer Games Magazine.

Further reinforcing the company's progressive capabilities, TimeGate released Axis & Allies in November 2004. A steady following from both fans of the classic board game and real-time strategy enthusiasts made this TimeGate's best-selling release to date and demonstrated what the company could do with an established franchise.

TimeGate's first venture into the realm of first-person shooters came in October of 2006 with the release of the acclaimed F.E.A.R. Extraction Point expansion. Extraction Point pushed the envelope with an unprecedented arsenal of explosive weaponry and surreal combat, and was named “Best Expansion Pack of 2006” by PC Gamer. The F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate expansion successfully followed Extraction Point, and both were bundled together to create F.E.A.R Files, a standalone expansion pack which was described as, “A satisfying continuation to an excellent game,” by Game Over. F.E.A.R. Files was TimeGate’s first foray into console development and established TimeGate as a skilled multiplatform development studio.

The release of Section 8 marked a major milestone for TimeGate Studios. As the company’s first original shooter IP, Section 8 redefined the way players approached the concepts of spawning and mission objectives by granting unprecedented strategic control of the battlefield. These ground-breaking elements earned Section 8 ‘Best Competitive Multiplayer Game of 2009’ honors from BigDownload.com. With a new foundation set, TimeGate now has the means to inject further innovation into one of the most popular game genres.
